Wow! Well, before getting into this amazingly rare, clean Datsun 200zx find…let’s address the elephant in the room. Yes, it’s been a minute. A very, long, non-productive hiatus on the Z.
Since then, I’ve acquired a very rundown 240z, a 70’s Fiat 124, aannndd some rust revival and clear coat peel on the 280z. Looks like we got a slew of work cut out for us that even AI can’t solve. But enough status update, onward!
1978 Datsun 200ZX! Can you even picture it? Right? You’ve got a faint idea and then…
Wham!

Holy cow this thing is COOL! Look at those lines, the window kink, the chrome trim around the tail lights! That funny air vent blade hanging out on the side!

Running on 13” American Racing rims, this Datsun 200zx is powered by the 2.0 inline-four cylinder engine of the day, mated to a 3-speed tranny. Currently running at 75,000 miles. It was previously displayed in a JDM museum in Illinois before being picked up its 2nd owner in 2016!

It’s for sale at $14,500 in San Ramon, CA. Given that Z prices, general 70’s cars, and it being a super clean, zero-rust example- it’s not a bad price for the collector.
But hey! I’m not the owner; it’s not mine to sell (I’ve been asked many times before from the Zpotted posts). Link to the sale with pics of gauges and exterior, below – fresh as it can be as it was posted 15min ago as of this writing!
